Song of Divinatio

On a sparse pine tree is the waning moon  ,

With men in peace is the finished water clock.

A hermit unseen paces up and down,

Like the shadow of a swan in veil.

Startled to fly away, it still turns round and round,

With none understanding his deep grief.

Perching but perching on no branches cold,

It at length perches on the lonely sandbank chilly.
