At Ramsgate, the mountains swallowed the sun, the vultures hid the moon with their wings, and red-headed Van Gogh was cursed by thinness. The emaciated, red-headed Van Gogh, sometimes in fearfully cold wind, sometimes in stormy rain, roamed with his cracked feet to mend his despair. Ramsgate was a desolate place; no wolves wanted to hang around, let alone a fresh flower, or a horse, or even a person named Ursula. Translated by Duck Yard Lyricists
