Should a University Professor Focus ON Scientific Research ?

Nowadays , some professors spend most of their time on their scientific research projects . This phenomenon has caused many debates . Many people think these professors are spraying from their main task . They insist that the most important job for a professor should be teaching the students rather than writing the research papers and working on scientific projects .

However , still others don't agree this argument . They think that university professors are the main force of scientific research work . Moreover , working on scientific research can help a professor improve his professional ability , which in turn is favorable to his teaching .

In my opinion , scientific research work and teaching work are not conflicting with each other . Instead , they complement each other . But some professors are so indulgen in their scientific research projects that they ignore teaching work , others even only for fame or higher position . These professors have to be reminded to make self-examination .
