全球最POP的流行音樂(lè)雜志《滾石》與MTV音樂(lè)電視聯(lián)合評(píng)選出了自1963年以來(lái)世界最偉大的一百首流行歌曲。“甲殼蟲(chóng)”樂(lè)隊(duì)的經(jīng)典老歌“Yesterday”（昨日）被傳唱三十七年，經(jīng)久不衰，高居百佳之首。
《滾石》與MTV策劃本次評(píng)選活動(dòng)。之所以把評(píng)選的時(shí)間范圍定在1963年至今是因?yàn)?963年“甲殼蟲(chóng)”樂(lè)隊(duì)首次登陸美國(guó)演出標(biāo)志著現(xiàn)代流行音樂(lè)時(shí)代的開(kāi)始。僅僅選出代表這個(gè)時(shí)代的100首經(jīng)典歌曲并非易事，五位《滾石》雜志的編輯和來(lái)自MTV的節(jié)目制作人、研究人員經(jīng)過(guò)反復(fù)斟酌、仔細(xì)推敲才最終確定了這100首具有代表性的歌曲。
